Styling Organza for a Friendship Date Night

Over the weekend, I visited Lyon Hall at Arlington, a famed location for French cuisine to grab dinner with friends in double organza. I love any opportunity to dress up head out since I don’t do that often. Recently, I have taken to reviewing some of my favorite places to eat on the blog and this was another opportunity to try out another popular restaurant in the area.

I have often reflected often on what my blog routine was like between 2015-2018, where I prioritized consistency over perfection and it paid off a great deal. In 2016, my blog had about 2,500 daily readers, being one of the top source(s) in Africa for a lot of fashion content. It ganered me a got a worthy mention on Essence Magazine with some of your current favorite influencers.

Over the years, work coupled with other personal responsibilities have slowed my approach to blogging and that has impacted my engagement to about 300 daily readers.

But this new year has allowed me to take a step back and think of this space (blogging) and how it has brought me joy in 15-years. I cannot believe it’s been that long! But yes, I am back to more of a laid back schedule with all that my current home country is shaping up to be; because I need anything I can hold unto to spark joy. I know the cliche of “consistency without perfection” is used often to encourage people to get to their craft, but it is a tried and trusted principle.

So here I am back again, hoping to get into that routing of sharing fashion, food, and lifestyle content on the go without waiting for a clear mapped out content. In todays post, I am styling organza for dinner with friends.

Double Organza Pairing

Having dinner with friends

The service and ambiance was great and the space was filled up as expected. So here are my ratings on the meal and price point.

  • Drinks 5/5: It was one of the best coconut water drinks I’ve had in a hot minute.
  • Appetizers 2/5: One out of 3 appetizers was good and it was a pasta dish. The French onion soup wasn’t as good as some I’ve had, and the grilled octopus
  • Entree 3.7/5: The roasted duck breast and chicken were well done and tasty. Especially the duck, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t like duck.
  • Service and ambience: 4.8/5: The service was excellent, I’m taking out point due to the fire alarm light going off for the remainder of the evening.

Outfit Details

I wore a pastel green organza dress from Gauge81 featured in this blog post and a Petal and pup trench coat in a similar material. Shoes were Mach and Mach, while my bag is from JW Pei.

Transparency of the material…that’s what I cherish the most and the texture, feels very different from my usual materials.
And you look extraordinary beautiful, Grace✨
Thank you for bringing this feeling back!
    Meals on wheels too!

Yes, I definitely agree that the texture of the material is exquisite. I remember hating organza growing up and I have made a 180 shift- I love the material a lot more than I thought I would. Thanks for your many compliments and for continuing to engage.
