MY FUNDRAISER FOR GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY

My name is Grace Chimezie, a twenty-three-year-old
lecturer at Bingham University, a freelance journalist, a blogger and an
entrepreneur; my work experience in the above field mentioned has
spanned a little over five years. I have been accepted into Georgetown University’s Communication, Culture and Technology (CCT) program .

What is Georgetown CCT and Why this Program is Important to Me.

Communication,
Culture and Technology is an interdisciplinary Master of Arts Program
focusing on challenges posed by new technologies in a range of fields,
including research, government, politics, arts, media, communication,
business, health, and medicine. “By cutting across institutional and
disciplinary boundaries, students develop new solutions caused by
complex problems”.

Studying this program is important to me as it
involves the various fields of my interest. It’s usually difficult to
find a program that is all encompassing

With technology growth
worldwide, Nigeria’s educational institution lag behind in exploring its
possibilities, reducing chances of creative minds such as myself to
gain experience as I would at CCT, in my home country.

This,
however, would enable me to achieve my dream of having a Master’s
degree, therefore, a path leading to my becoming a professor and also to
be an example to my only younger sister who would find it easy to
believe that her dreams are valid.

What Will I Do With The Money?

The estimated
cost of my study for the first year of my study is $61,000 (including
tuition, health, rent & utilities, books & supplies, and
housing) and the exchange rate of the Nigerian currency doesn’t weigh
much. I have currently raised a little $5,200 and do not have any
scholarships yet. I plan to work to help cover some of my expenses but
due to school work and restrictions on my student visa, I will only be
able to work not more than 20 hours/week.

The money I raise will,
therefore, go into covering the rest of my expenses. Any donations that
you can give, big or small will be greatly appreciated.
