Turned out that I was spending less time in Lagos, somewhat like 5 days and because of the industrial nature of the city, you may have to spend a bit more time to catch up with people and enjoy the vibe of the city. There are a number of reasons I said Lagos still has our childhood memories, from the colonial buildings, to people not really minding their business and everyone looking out for each other and the hustle and bustle and people trying to make things work etc it’s a marsh up of the high, middle and lower class and somewhat everyone knows where they fit in and it makes the city, fun and lively. One time during my trip after I dropped off from my ride and my jewelry came off, a willful youth was at the center of the road to help me with it (in Abuja who dash you)
Now the gag is (learned this from Keke palmer) if you haven’t well equipped yourself for the rigor that comes with moving about your bank account may bleed on transport. for every time I’ve returned to Lagos a large chunk of my saved income is gone to transport movement. I did uber for one week and one day I just jumped on a bus enough was enough, luckily for me I’m not missing since I get lost in thoughts in no time.
On getting to Lagos that has a good space on the island and she is always helpful to sort accommodation for me, I really don’t know what life will be like in Lagos without her. I get to sort out food in the next 48 hours and that is no mean feat, and considering my host is a busy bee I try to sort that out myself by buying cereal and milk (N2,000) trust me it saved me a lot. On the third day I finally muster courage to ask for the best places to get meals at affordable rates (as the island is infamous luxury spending) suggestions where given and I put my mouth to the task.
Smokey Bones: Thanks to my darling HAFYMO who found this quiet secluded area, with the best corn bread and smokey rice. Their food prices where between N800-N1000
Black Bell: I loved this place for their rice and gizzard
which was always well prepared because I went another time, however at
the initial time when I told them I needed to do a review on their food,
the reaction was almost like I couldn’t afford it and that made me so
angry.
Hans and Renee: I hear of this place too often than not on the internet and I couldn’t miss the opportunity to see what was so special about
ACTIVITIES
Social Media Week: Thankfully my arrival date at Lagos, still fell on the Social Media Week. I was able to attend a session hosted by Bellanaija for creatives in the industry and it was a feisty one.
Jumia Collaboration HERE : I know this isn’t news anymore, but I’m glad this clicked, I’ve had a great work relationship with jumia for two years or more, y’all click and support your girl.
AyabaWoman: I had a shoot for a friend who was launching her ready to wear line
I also visited Mushin market, and Marina, two distinct places especially with road, organization, you name it…
Arts & Craft: My host took me to Arts and craft market at Lekki, and I was marveled by talents, quick and witty, funny and smart and its sad that so much hasn’t been invested there as the road leading to it is in a bad state, but the people there looked happy and content (Nigerians I hail thee)
Gifts: I love Lagos because I barely come back empty handed, from any Lagos trip, thanks Henry Uduku, Modupe, One clothing, Ngbwigs, Jumia, Desire 1709 just to mention a few. I met a lot of my loves, from the blogger community and honestly they’re major reasons why I go back.
I know its a long read but if you manage to read to the end, have you visited Lagos and what is your favorite thing about the city. I am back to Abuja the calm, everyone minding their buisness, wide roads, sorted and cheap transportation, affordable food, but I still think Lagos won my heart.

I've lived in Lagos all my life and I can say it's truly a survival of the fittest something. It's cool you visited all those places within a short period of time; I haven't even been to some of those places. Please visit again. I really do hope to see you in person someday and congrats on your Jumia Deal.

The closest I've been to Lagos was passing throught the airport. I hope to visit someday soon and explore all those colonial buildings. And girl Abuja people are nice too, especially when you're in trouble, its a Nigerian thing. I look forward to seeing the full pictures from the Ayaba woman launch, that grey look is stunning on you. And once again congrats on your Jumia collab, already bought my kimono, can't wait to style it.
