MY FIRST DC SPRING FESTIVAL – A PHOTO ALBUM

STORY TIME-
Yesterday, I had to leave the end of a conference I was attending, one hour before the scheduled closing time, because I had a bad headache.

On my way out I noticed that the number of people, bikers and motorist in the DC area was outrageously large. They were all moving towards one direction, and for whatever reason, I changed my path home 🏡. I had joined a behemoth like crowed to what is called the DC memorial square.

Let’s backtrack a little. I have been in the DC area for almost two years and have spent most of my weekend indoors (cooking, reading, sleeping) knowing that there was so much outdoor event to do, but deciding it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Back to the story, my present view made me regret so much my disposition towards life. I  began to humor myself on my choice of living the way I did. There was so much beauty in DC that I could not appreciate because I spent most of my time indoors.

The large crowd I had mentioned earlier were heading for the first in a series of the DC spring festival, held during the cherry blossoms🌸. People came out in droves with their friends, family, lovers, and acquaintances, taking photos, strolling to enjoy a cozy day out in the sun and others were having a picnic.

One interesting view for me was seeing the kites up in the air.  The kites were towering a little bit above the memorial (the tallest structure in the DC area) and in all my time staying in DC this was the largest crowd gathering I had seen having fun.

Since this was no planned event for me, I took pictures of the memorial, my wristwatch ⌚️ against flowers blossoming, and people taking photos of others.

At the end of the day, I felt a little pang because I was single and it would have been nice to create this kind of memory with someone I cared for emotionally. I also have decided to make a conscious effort to visit more places in the DC area and leave my bed alone.
