Journaling – when we do not have prompts to organise our thoughts can sometimes be an inundated feeling. However, we cannot deny the power of journaling or diary entry when we crave catharsis.
There are so many brave stories that have been told about our world, that otherwise wouldn’t have been, were it not for journal entry. For example, “The Diary of Anne Frank” or the poetic journal entry of “Emily Dickinson” Needless to say, journaling is important and can take different forms from prose to poetry.
But this year I slowed down in my journal entry because it took time to organise my thoughts, and write them down. I ended up using a notes app as a reprieve to avoid that angst. Then I found an old journal that was almost filled up that wen on to reveal a lot of nostalgic memories.
Thankfully, I was able to get in contact with “The Five-Minute Journal” by Intelligent Change, which I consider the best journal for people like me. The journal has a guide that is useful to beginners on how to document their experiences, ranging from gratitude to challenges.
One crucial detail which caught my attention was the decision not to assign daily date markers to each page, allowing the writer flexibility. I’ve always felt dating journals like calendar markers makes it difficult for people who journal to buy real journals- and would instead opt for an everyday notepad.
I do believe a lot of behavioral research went into producing the featured journal. I am particularly excited about seeing the quotes I have for each-day of my journal entry. For example, today’s quote recites Alice Morse; “Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That’s why it is called the present.”
Some people claim there is an art to journaling, but I believe journaling is what we make of it. The Intelligent Change Journal has a 5-star rating, and you know how hard it is to achieve that in today’s insatiable world. I definitely would give it a 5-star rating for the following reasons but not limited to;
- A Good back cover, which comes in linen-like material.
- The design is beginner-friendly.
- Nice Quotes.
- The dating format.
