HOW DO I EDIT MY PHOTOS FOR INSTAGRAM

I’ve been asked this question severally “Grace please what app did you use to edit this picture”? or on how I edit my photos on Instagram and my blog also how I get to curate my feed.  Today I’ll try to use this post and address that. My photos are edited differently to be honest on the both platforms that is my blog and Instagram and there isn’t any logical explanation in regards to that. The closest I have gotten to explaining what apps I used to edit my photos can be seen  Here.

I’ll want to say though that there are few basic things you need to get right before running to a photo application to help your picture become beautiful. E.g addressing the lighting in your environment, the type of camera and lens etc. If these are not sorted out nothing can help you Improve the quality of your pictures.
1. Picsart, 2. Vsco edit, 3. Afterlight, 4. Lightroom, 5. Snapseed
Another thing to note is that one photo application isn’t the final answer to getting the perfect photo that you need. I use about four photo apps to get the perfect rendition of the photos y’all see on my social media pages and then use my understanding of colors to adjust it to my taste.
The other means of how? I might not be able to teach, because its an inbuilt creative process that is not explainable. On the other hand I also edit based on my emotions, and that’s the reason I’ve never had a consistent feed. Other factors include my love vintage edits and queer things like text, symbols and music.
Things
to note :
saturation, temperature, skin tone, sharpening, color,
whitening, filter, highlight, structure, softening the list is endless
though depending on how you love your photo to play out and most of the
great apps are not free 😷
Things to consider before editing a photo
By
increasing your temperature from warm to cool, you can change a lot about
the disposition of a picture. The final app you use to edit a photo can
mean a lot also and not all apps that you love is free.
The
time of the day and weather can also change the outcome of a photo.
Most of the work that goes into photography happens before the photo
goes through an editing process.
Afterlight:
I love afterlight because you get to change the highlight and tone of your photo. You can edit with their natural filters on it and its pretty cool too, which you can achieve with other apps as I am about to show you below. The strength of this app, is the sharpening and construct tool.
grains
Snapseed
I don’t use this app often, but it is a great way to edit your photo but it will take some time to get used to. Use the brush tool, to create a whiter surface
before/after
It has filters that you can tweak to taste

Vsco
This is where I get most of my work done, to be honest maybe because of how fond I am of the app, but there are so many apps out there that serve similar purpose and most of the edits have to be bought, not everything is free.
read my above statement about what to do before you get your photo through an editing process to understand this clearly
Facetune:
I forgot to attach the photo icon of this app, but it is great to soften ones face, and improve details of a photo if you want to
Lightroom
I use Lightroom to get my photo a bit bright or more like whitening, that’s what it is called on the application. Lightroom is great when you want to have control over what color, and tone, your picture ends up looking like
Picsart:

I use this app a lot, to merge my photos and add text. This app has a lot of advantages to creating quirky and artsy kind of lay out on your IG page, some I am not so good at but spend a considerable amount of my day learning how to work on it . One of the other main feature is the color pick, that whitens the background, and selects only the color you would love to use in the picture under the color splash menu

Comment below if you like this post, and let me know what you think. What apps do you use and is any familiar to you here? Most of these apps can be found in your app store, that comes with your mobile devise

I loved this entry. Very informative Grace. I definitely learnt a lot. I currently use vsco and Snapseed only. Definitely downloading the others to check them out. There’s UNUM as well, a friend just told me about it. It’s not free but seems a great app for the Gram. I also use Darkroom. Thank you lots. Hugs!

Finally!!! There's really no time I see any of your posts on instagram that I don't say "How in the world does she edit her photos". I make use of Vsco likewise, really great. Lover of vintage myself. Thanks for this post. Now I'll check out afterlight surely. Only hope it's not of the ones I'll have to pay for.
