There is no denying that feather accessories were and are still the talk of fashion town. Different fashion brands have opted to add it as an accessory to a lot of their products- from our everyday sleepwear, blouses, skirts, bags, and shoes, to an endless list of other things. I had a feather shoe on a christmas wishlist a few years ago.

But despite the trend making its way to a lot of wardrobes, I have remained unfazed in copping one for myself until recently when I conceded to purchasing this skirt. The skirt is a lot of things that my personal style aligns with, from the color, the tone, and the structure. It just works! My previous need to stay clear from the feather trend is a longstanding rebellion about fashion where I only indulge in trends if need be.
I have had this skepticism that if I am always going with the trend, then I lose my ability to be creative with my personal style. While that may be true, there needs to be a nuance to my approach. Finding this skirt with the right asymmetry and fit while having the feather trend felt like a win. So for the fashion skeptic who has avoided the feather trend for similar reasons, you may need to change your mind. There are a few recommendations below to help you with that.
Helpful Tips for Choosing your Next Trend.
There are others like me out there who are often sceptical about jumping in on the latest trends. So, here are a few recommendations for the fashion skeptic.
- It’s ok to choose trendy pieces: some of us need to accept that purchasing fashion trends does not take away our ability to choose outfits for ourselves. Buying fashion trends occurs because we live in a modern world and influenced by it.
- Choose items in colors you love: The neutral tone of my skirt was a major factor that influenced my decision to purchase the feather trend. So, purchase fashion trends in colors that bring you joy.
- Finds trends in adventurous patterns: Patterns allow fashion pieces to come alive. When you make up your mind to purchase a trend, find unique patterns that make you stand out. It can be sequin, asymmetric, print, pleat, etc.
The thing about consistency
I have learned to apologize less often and give myself grace while holding myself accountable for not showing up consistently as I would like to. Part of it has been the pressure of adulthood, but most of it has been due to being laid back mentally and not adding my blog to my to-do list.
Now that things seem to look bright from my end, I’ll make a concerted effort to align my schedule and share content consistently on the blog.
Can you guess what my next post will be about?
