5 Ways to Overcome Self-Esteem Issues

Self-esteem, as described by Rosenberg in 1965, refers to the powerful inner attitude towards oneself, which can be positive or negative. Our perception of self is influenced by various factors such as childhood upbringing, media, society, and peer pressure. These factors have evolved over time and continue to shape how we view ourselves.

I’ll be sharing my personal struggle with self-esteem in this post, particularly how it was impacted by my upbringing. Growing up with limited privileges made it challenging to fit into social environments. This upbringing significantly influenced my self-perception in social settings.

Self-esteem extends its influence across multiple aspects of our lives, from our thoughts and behavior to our relationships and decision-making. Overcoming low self-esteem is a complex challenge, especially when confronted with situations that trigger memories of our upbringing.

Moreover, self-esteem has a profound impact on our confidence, resilience, and overall well-being. It’s crucial to understand the contributing factors and seek support from various sources, including friends, family, and professionals, to enhance our self-perception and navigate social settings with greater confidence. Acknowledging and addressing the impact of upbringing and other influential factors is essential for fostering a more positive and resilient sense of self-worth.

How to overcome self-esteem issues.

So here is how I have worked to improve mine. As an adult, the behavior that made me realize that I was struggling with self-esteem issues was my inability to handle negative feedback. I used to seek positive affirmations from people who didn’t care much about me or from those whom I looked up to. Relying on others for positive affirmation had a detrimental impact. A negative comment made in public would cause me to shrink, and this happened multiple times before I realized that I needed to make a change.

Ways of boosting your self-esteem

Write Down Your Achievements

1. Write Down Your Achievements: Make a list of things you’re proud of, such as your achievements with minimal effort, the beneficiaries, and how it made you feel. Doing this regularly serves as a reassuring reminder of your capabilities. Don’t forget to jot down major achievements as well, especially those accomplished against all odds.

Take Ownership of Your Fears

Acknowledge and take control of your fears and insecurities. Understand that people may have biased opinions of you, but that doesn’t diminish your worth.

Change the things you can to boost self-esteem:

Many people tie their self-esteem to their physical appearance. If not meeting societal beauty standards affects your self-esteem, consider making changes if it will make you feel more confident and beautiful. For example, I struggled with my writing, and upon realizing my poor reading and writing habits, I decided to invest in books and improve my writing. This has boosted my self-esteem, and it happened because I was open to making necessary and challenging changes to my habits.

Sorround Yourself with Positive People.

Surround yourself with individuals who affirm your self-worth. The right words matter, so ensure that the voices influential to you are uplifting and positive, as our minds can often blow things out of proportion.

Accept Things You Cannot Change

For a long time, I’ve struggled with feeling less confident about my height and body size. It was difficult because these are aspects that I can’t easily change. There have been instances where I’ve been mistaken for a 15-year-old or overlooked in social settings because of how I look. However, I’ve gradually come to accept these traits as a part of who I am. Now, when I dress up, I do so with confidence, feeling like a perfect 10.

Many of us may never have the exact height, facial structure, or weight that we wish for, but I’ve realized that learning to live with and embrace these features is incredibly empowering. Embracing ourselves as we are, rather than wishing for something different, is a journey of self-acceptance that ultimately leads to greater self-love and confidence.

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement?
My blog has a lot of completely unique content I've either
created myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know
any ways to help stop content from being ripped off?
    I'd definitely appreciate it.

It is really hard to control the level your content is ripped off. However, for pictures you can add a watermark and on your blog put a word that prohibits people from lifting your content.
