Designing the Room

To design an eccentric bedroom, one important idea to pay attention to, are the accent details and how well they fit into your personal story. One wrong item can throw off the aesthetic and make it too busy. Fun fact, some mid-century furnitures and aesthetic (like the ones used in my bedroom) are unique enough to fit into an eccentric decoration, which made my transition very easy.

Eccentric, is a term used commonly when referring to antiques, odd, and sometimes vintage elements. These definition streamlines the first thought process that goes into designing an eccentric bedroom is usually reflective of the designer’s personality. The beauty of eccentric design, is that it allows us experiment and play around with unique elements in our home, colors and interest in Art.

How I approach Designing my Bedroom

That was the approach I took to designing mine. I wanted the bedroom to feel cozy and warm but also inspiring. I create content and write often and my bedroom is where most of the work happens, so it has to reflect that energy. I’m not done with the redesign of my space but it’s one step in the right direction.

Some of the newly added details here are wall frames, vintage vase, and throw pillows with covering from Burrow, which made the room come alive. Pinterest is a great place to get inspired on what to do with a small bedroom, but I’ve also enjoyed reading quaint publications like Remodelista and Chairish in my spare time to pry into other design ideas from experienced curators.
