STAYING MOTIVATED, SETTING GOALS AND STAYING PRODUCTIVE

Someone had asked me to answer this question on my Youtube page. To be honest, that may take a while but for now let’s settle with the text version.

Staying motivated in a world where its easy to put yourself down for not achieving so much can be tasking. I do believe most of the problem lie in us thinking that we can get ahead by relying on our own strength. This brings me to my favorite verse “the race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong …

Ecc 9: 11
I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t
always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the
battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not
necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead
successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right
place at the right time.

Some translations say, it is God who shows mercy. I get motivated by seeing people I love doing things they love. That Nigerian spirit comes out like do they have two heads? Also going out and seeing what people have done to create the world we live in now is another motivating factor for me.

Which brings me to setting goals. I try to make my goals to align with a dream or vision I am in the process of achieving. This then opens up the next door for my next goal that builds up to a future path I see myself striding in. I don’t set goals like buying a car by the end of this year when I know I have tuition to pay. If for some reason I get a car then its a beautiful surprise and in no way would I feel its my achievement.

Staying productive is as simple as doing what you need to do when you need to do it. I procrastinate a lot and it hasn’t gotten me far in this life so I try my possible best to achieve as much as I can when I put myself in the mood to be productive (Like drafting out my whole blog post for the week in one sitting so I can do other things).
What are your own tips for staying motivated and setting goals?
