Pridwin Resort

I recently embarked on a trip to Pridwin Resort because I was eager to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. A hidden gem nestled on Shelter Island, New York, it was the perfect serene retreat away from the relentless urban clamor where I lived. The summer had brought tourists from far and wide to the DC, Virginia area, and my desire for tranquility drove me to seek solace in the idyllic landscapes far from the heart of the city. After considering various destinations in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware, I ultimately chose the enchanting allure of New York’s Shelter Island. While the journey there required a lengthy four-hour drive from the city, the picturesque vistas of Hampton, coupled with the ease of access via the Long Island transport service, made the escape well worth the effort.

Getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city may seem impossible, but a road trip to New York can be both an escape and an adventure. Just a 4-hour drive from the city, you’ll find Shelter Island, accessible via the Long Island transport service. Nestled near Shelter Island is the picturesque Hampton, offering breathtaking views that will stay with you long after you’ve left.

The Journey to Pridwin Resort

I had quite the adventure getting to Pridwin! First, I bought a return to Penn Station NYC ticket for about $230 and then grabbed another ticket to Long Island Greenport. From there, I made my way to Shelter Island, NY, specifically the Shelter Island Chamber of Commerce. The weekend schedule for the Long Island train was a bit tricky, so I had to plan everything just right. Once in Greenport, I needed some cash to get on the car ferry to the island. Pro tip: make sure to bring $20 or $10 bills for the ferry. I gave Pridwin a heads up about my arrival, and they even arranged to pick me up from the ferry stop. A friendly guy loaded up my luggage and we were off to Pridwin!

The Pridwin Experience

As I finally stepped off the ferry onto the tranquil shores of Pridwin, I couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer contrast from the hustle and bustle of the city. The island was a serene oasis, far removed from the constant hum of traffic and the ceaseless zoom of planes overhead. The scenery was simply breathtaking. The gentle lull of the tides colliding against each other created a soothing soundtrack, and the rare sight of a passing car only served to emphasize the island’s peaceful seclusion. Every now and then, I caught glimpses of individuals joyfully cruising by on their boats or yachts, adding a touch of nautical charm to the idyllic scene.

My Favorite thing about Pridwin

Pridwin exceeded all my expectations as a black woman who values service and safety when selecting a relaxation spot. Initially, I had concerns about the food at the resort and the hassle of the boat shuttle, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent, and I couldn’t find a single complaint about their menu. Plus, they make the best fries I’ve ever tasted on the East Coast! From the warm welcome at the reception to the efficient room service, I felt completely at ease. My room was ready ahead of time, and the staff even helped to escort my luggage. The front desk team, including the delightful intern from England, made me feel truly welcome with their smiles. The young ladies greeted me with the same warmth and hospitality they extended to every other guest. Overall, my experience at Pridwin was exceptional, and I can’t wait to visit again!

What you get for your stay at Pridwin

Pridwin Resort was absolutely stunning! The vast landscape offered so much to explore and enjoy. I have to say, one of my favorite memories was spending lazy afternoons on the balcony of the restaurant, listening to the live bands and soaking in the picturesque views of the tides dancing. The boat ride was another highlight – the sea breeze and the sound of the waves were incredibly refreshing.

Oh, and I can’t forget about playing tennis there! It’s such an invigorating sport that always leaves me wanting more.

Speaking of memorable experiences, what’s your favorite memory of summer? I’d love to hear about it!
