Christmas Look Book 2022: How My Style is Evolving

Phew excited to share my Christmas look book for 2022. My lookbook around the holiday season is a routine I have stuck with for almost 8-years. And I almost thought it would not happen due to my busy schedule. But finally, after weeks of thinking and reaching out to a friend, I was able to come up with something for the holiday season.

Christmas Lookbook

I started a lookbook so readers can find inspiration on what to wear during this festive season. But it is also my most read post every year outside of the valentines post, and I love reading your reactions to them. See here and here. As you may have read in my Holiday Fashion Diaries, I spent a lot of time re-evaluating my style in 2022- I wanted to dress with more intention and craft, and I achieved that.

My Christmas Lookbook this year is a reflection of my evolving style. I also loved that people appreciated it, especially on Twitter- see here and here. Let me get right into this post before I bore you. Today, as always, there are three looks with a bonus look to spare, and I hope you enjoy it.

Look 1: Denim Festive Look

Regular blog readers are aware of my love for denim. The search button on the blog (if you intend to get more denim inspiration) will take you down a rabbit hole of different know that I love good denim. Usually, denim is not a piece people associate with the festive season, but things are changing with the current denim trends. For this look, I opted for a denim fit with embellished detail and accessorised it with BCBG Girl pump white heels. I also love the details of the knitted sweater from Express and my bag from Sibono.

The question would be, what function would you wear this fit?

Look 2: A Metalic Moment

I fell in love with metallic outfits this year, and I wanted to capture that in this Christmas lookbook. There is something about metallic looks that transforms how I feel about style. It is eye-catching and a statement piece that brings all the needed attention to a full room. It is an outfit anyone can wear for a corporate holiday event, which is what I did after shooting this look. I have shared links below to shop similar looks.

I found this Asos metallic pants online and I just knew I had to have it. But one thing about me, I purchase my outfits in pairs. I decided to find an acetate top with an avant grade feel to give this look a statement feel. Finally, I paired the look with an embellished purse (as my style evolves, I consider an absolute necessity), and black stone slingback pumps.

Look 3: Keeping it cute in a Red Organza Top

What is the holiday season without some sprinkle of a red outfit? I fell in love with this Organza top which I was supposed to pair with Culottes pants or a red denim with front slits. But I settled with this black leather Zara skirt and I loved the outcome. As with the other looks, I have curated links to shop similar look.

Something I learned this year was paying attention to how different materials work together. I have realized that cotton is best for making suits, and outside that, it is a very bland material for fashion. In the coming year, I intend to add different fashion pieces made with eclectic materials to my wardrobe.

Another important fashion lesson I learned this year is that fashion is more than the clothing, it is the poise and confidence. Actually, the clothes are like 20% of the work, how you carry yourself and feel in a cloth matters most. I styled this look with an embellished bag from the White House Black Market, and it is one of my favorite black mini bag.

Low key, while writing this post, I think this might be my favorite look. But I thnk all three (3) looks are fantastic and stunning and I can’t make a choice. It is also very tricky to layer an organza top, so I added a black lace bralet, but a silk red top would have worked too.

What event are you likely to wear this top to?

Look 4: The Reign of Pleats

Pleats as a trendy fashion piece snuck back in towards the end of 2022, and since then, we have seen different variations and cuts of pleats clothing. For a private dinner with friends, I felt this look was appropriate, especially with the exaggerated sleeves, which gave the outfit a unique look.

When I started working towards creating my look book this year, this was the one look I knew would make the cut, but I didn’t know how. Now looking at the final outcome, I see why I loved this look. It is freeing but it is also a bright color that I do not wear often. I added a blinged belt detail because I believe its a trend that we would see more of in 2023.

Which of these looks is your favorite? I would love to read your responses.
